Chen XU (They/them)

Chen Xu is a London-based theatre maker and actor working across performance, writing, and interdisciplinary practice.

Their work explores theatre as a fluid form, creating meanings through rhythm, silence, and imageries rather than fixed narrative structures. Their works often feature out-of-box settings, dark humor and criticism of the human-centric views. Many of their works are also inspired by the inarticulate and ineffable moments within their lived, migrant and queer experience.

With an educational background from philosophy to classical piano, they have been making multidisciplinary works with professional pianists, noise artists, and performance art makers.

As an emerging writer-performer their works was showcased at The Almeida Theatre, the Southbank Center, and the Royal Maritime Museums in Greenwich.

They are proudly supported by Projekt Europa’s Projekt Empower 2025, mentored by Stephanie Street.
